Ms. Shelia Jeffers Bagwell, 57 of Vista Avenue, Boaz, died Monday, January 04, 2016 at Shepherd’s Cove. Service will be Wednesday, January 6, 2016; Two o’clock p.m. at McRae Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jeff Stanford and officiating and eulogy by Margaret Edmondson. Interment will follow in the Forrest Home Cemetery. McRae Funeral Home, Boaz is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6 – 8 at the funeral home. Ms. Bagwell was born in Florida on February 20, 1958 to Boyd W. “Jeff” & Reba Clayborn Jeffers. She was a financial agent with a finance company. Ms. Bagwell is survived by her Son: Jonathan Bagwell of Guntersville, Daughter & Spouse: Alicia & Caitlin Thurmond of Boaz, Grandchildren: Dayton Bagwell, Trey Childress, Aidan Minor, Dawson Goodwin and Kainan Bagwell, Mother: Reba Clayborn Jeffers of Boaz, Brother: Rickey Dale Jeffers of Boaz, father of her children: Perry Bagwell She was preceded in death by her father: Boyd W. “Jeff” Jeffers. The family is accepting flowers or suggests donations to Free Life Worship Center.¹

     Jonathan Blake Bagwell is the son of Vincent Perry Bagwell and Shelia Jeffers.¹

     Jason Scott Bagwell is the son of Thomas Mearling Bagwell and Renae Kathleen Webster. Jason Scott Bagwell married Theresa Annette (?) after 1998.

     Renae Kathleen Webster married Thomas Mearling Bagwell, son of Dallas Maryland Bagwell Jr. and Marguerite Germaine Andrews, on 29 December 1973 at Denver, Colorado.

     Theresa Annette (?) married Jason Scott Bagwell, son of Thomas Mearling Bagwell and Renae Kathleen Webster, after 1998.

     Theresa Ann Hruska was born on 7 June 1960. As of 1983,her married name was Bagwell. She married Bruce Edwin Bagwell in 1983. Theresa Ann Hruska died on 6 February 2019 at age 58


Theresa Ann (Hruska) Bagwell passed away Feb. 6, 2019, after a short, courageous battle with cancer.
She was born on June 7, 1960, in Grants, N.M., but grew up in Idaho Springs and graduated from Clear Creek High School in 1978. She completed her X-ray technician certification but chose a career she greatly enjoyed: serving good food and good cheer.
She married Bruce Bagwell in 1983, and for more than 35 years, they shared a love of fishing and the outdoors. Especially, she loved early morning walks in the park across from her house.
Theresa leaves behind her husband; her parents, Joe and Helen Hruska; her six sisters, Joyce Snyder, Diana (David) Spann, Susan (Pat) Mullen, Mary (Bill) Salisbury, Caroline Hruska and Kristi (Mike) Haider; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her passing leaves a huge hole in our hearts. A memorial service will be held at a later date.


She was buried at Alvarado Cemetery, Empire, Clear Creek County, Colorado.

     Bruce Wayne Bagwell was born on 16 February 1954 in Wilmington, Delaware. He lived in 1972 in Petersburg, Petersburg City, Virginia. He served in the US Air Force as a SGT from from 4 December 1974 to 16 September 1979. He lived from 1988 to 1999 in Petersburg, Petersburg City, Virginia. He died on 9 November 1999 at age 45. He was buried at Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George County, Virginia.

     Helen Carlock married Roy Ernell Bagwell, son of David Hampton Bagwell and Nannie Pearl Bailey, in 1942 at New Jersey.

     Carolyn Dawn Bagwell was born circa 1948 in Maryland. She was the daughter of Roy Ernell Bagwell and Helen Carlock. As of 5 August 1967,her married name was Duke. Carolyn Dawn Bagwell married Richard Thomas Duke III on 5 August 1967 at Oradell, New Jersey. Carolyn Dawn Bagwell lived in 1985 in Portsmouth, Virginia. She died on 7 June 1987 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

     Richard Thomas Duke III married Carolyn Dawn Bagwell, daughter of Roy Ernell Bagwell and Helen Carlock, on 5 August 1967 at Oradell, New Jersey.

     Gary Bagwell is the son of Roy Ernell Bagwell and Helen Carlock.

     Mary Eva Womack was born on 1 April 1943 in Monroe, Louisiana. As of 6 March 1966,her married name was Bagwell. She married Bruce Benson Bagwell, son of William Mallory Bagwell and Carrie Velma O'Neal, on 6 March 1966 at Oak Grove, Louisiana. Mary Eva Womack died on 16 September 2026 at age 83


Mary Eva Womack Bagwell of Lubbock, Texas, passed away at home on September 16, 2026, surrounded by family. She was born on April 1, 1943, in Monroe, Louisiana, the only child of Ellis and Dorothy Rodgers Womack.

Mary Eva grew up in Oak Grove, Louisiana, and attended Oak Grove High School, where she was an officer in the Black and Gold Tiger Band, was selected for the All-State Band, and served as editor of the Tiger's Claw yearbook. She received the American Legion School Award and the John Philip Sousa Band Award and graduated in 1961.

She cherished the four summers she spent in the Texas Hill Country at Camp Waldemar for Girls in Hunt from 1954 through 1957 and returned in November 2025 to celebrate the camp's centennial. She dearly loved her years at LSU, where she earned a bachelor's degree in music education in 1965. She was a member of The Golden Band from Tigerland, Kappa Delta, Sigma Alpha Iota, and the staff of the Gumbo yearbook.

She married Bruce Benson Bagwell, originally of Choudrant, Louisiana, in 1966. During their 24-year marriage, they made their home in Delhi and raised their two children.

Like her mother, Mary Eva became a music teacher. From 1972 to 1990, she taught private music lessons. From 1979 to 1982, she wrote "Mary's Meddlins" for The Delhi Dispatch and "Delhi Doin's" for The Richland Beacon-News, sharing local stories, community observations, social news, and reflections on family life in the region. Her family often served as willing guinea pigs for new recipes-and as inspiration for her columns. She later brought Louisiana's distinctive places and stories to life through feature articles for The Richland Journal.

Mary Eva's career also included public service and nonprofit leadership. From 1987 to 1990, she served as regional office manager for Louisiana State Senator Willie E. Crain, Sr. Beginning in September 1990, she served as regional director for the American Heart Association until retiring in April 2009. She oversaw the association's work across 12 parishes and led numerous special events, including the Go Red for Women luncheon, "Cardiac Arrest", and Heart Walk. She was recognized repeatedly by the association for her fundraising performance and, in 1994, received the American Heart Association's Rome Betts Award of Excellence, a national staff award
recognizing her work. She later served as development and community relations director for Habitat for Humanity of Ouachita from August 2009 to November 2011.

Mary Eva's commitment to service extended throughout the communities where she lived. She volunteered with the Friends of the Lubbock Library, the American Cancer Society, and KEDM Public Radio; served on the Monroe Symphony Orchestra Board of Governors; and was a member of the Jaycee Jaynes and Beta Sigma Phi. Many will remember her especially for her service to Delhi United Methodist Church, where she was the pianist, sang in the chancel choir, and directed the youth choir. She also led the chancel choir's anthems during worship, directed youth musicals, and organized memorable choir and United Methodist Youth Fellowship trips to destinations throughout the Southeast. She was also a member of the bell choir at St. John's United Methodist Church in Lubbock, Texas.

She delighted in a good book, a trip to the movies, dogs, a great pair of shoes, a Sousa march, a treasure worth collecting, a beach to comb, a place to explore, a dessert to go, and, always, a good laugh. Above all, her curiosity about the world was insatiable.

Mary Eva was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy Rodgers Womack and Ellis Womack of Oak Grove and Monroe, Louisiana. She is survived by her two children: Dorothy Bagwell Durband and her husband, Arthur, of Lubbock, Texas; and Benson Womack Bagwell and his wife, Cherie McKeithen Bagwell, of Jonesboro, Louisiana.

She is also survived by her grandson, Benjamin Aaron Bagwell, also of Jonesboro.

Her final resting place will be Oak Grove Cemetery, beside her mother. Details of a remembrance will be shared at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Mary Eva's family suggests that memorial gifts be made to the Morris Safe House Foundation in Lubbock, Texas.

     Ruth Blondell Bagwell was born on 19 October 1922 in Tallapoosa, Georgia. She was the daughter of John Alexander Bagwell and Bertie Lou Johnson. As of 20 August 1943,her married name was Josey. Ruth Blondell Bagwell married James Daniel Josey on 20 August 1943 at Seattle, Washington. Ruth Blondell Bagwell died on 2 January 1969 in Hendrick Memorial Hospital, Abilene, Texas, at age 46. She was buried on 11 January 1969 at Hamlin East Cemetery, Hamlin, Texas.

     Micajah Benjamin Bagwell was born on 22 September 1934 in Tallapoosa, Haralson County, Georgia.¹ He was the son of John Alexander Bagwell and Bertie Lou Johnson. He attended Samford University, Birmingham, Alabama, in 1954. Micajah Benjamin Bagwell married Jo Ann Cobb on 4 July 1954. Micajah Benjamin Bagwell lived from 1993 to 2002 in Tallapoosa, Georgia. He died on 14 August 2021 in Georgia at age 86


Mr. Micajah Benjamin Bagwell, age 86, of Tallapoosa, GA, passed away August 14, 2021. He was born September 4, 1934, in Tallapoosa to the late John Alexander and Bertie Bagwell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Laura Bagwell; sisters and brothers in law, Naomi and Frank Estavanko, Madel Lummus and Ruth and Jo Josey; and brother and sister in law, Jim and Catherine Bagwell.

Micajah was a Christian, a teacher, a carpenter, a servant, and a leader. He served his country in the US Navy and served his community on the planning board, as councilman and finally as Mayor. He was in the Tallapoosa Masonic Lodge. He taught high school History for Bremen City School System and helped coach the 9th grade football team. In 1974 he started Bagwell Builders and built and or renovated many of the houses all around Tallapoosa.

He loved to hunt and fish, but his greatest love after the Lord was his family. On July 4th, 1954, he married his precious bride in a double ceremony with best friends, even still today, Norman and Jimmie Carol Owens at First Baptist Church in Villa Rica. They had 4 wonderful children and he loved being granddaddy.

For countless years, Micajah taught Sunday school and was a Deacon, first at Tallapoosa First Baptist and then at Providence Baptist Church.

He is survived by his devoted wife of sixty-seven years, JoAnn Cobb Bagwell; their sons and daughters in law, Kent Bagwell, Paul and Diana Bagwell, and John and Barbara Bagwell, all of Tallapoosa; eleven grandchildren; and twenty-one great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held, Monday, August 16, 2021, at 2:00 PM from Providence Baptist Church with Rev. Curtis Pixler officiating and Eulogy by Kent Bagwell. Speaking will be the Honorable Mike Murphy. Mr. Bagwell will lie in state from 1:00 until 2:00 PM. Music will be provided by Mary Wright, Lisa Robinson, and Nancy Gentry. Gentlemen serving as pallbearers will be Jake Bagwell, Jeremy Church, Brandon Parker, Tyler Jiles, George Lynch and Matt Hooten. Honorary pallbearers will be Providence Church Deacons, Norman Owens, Jerry Jackson, Dink Bell, and Randy Jiles. Interment will follow in Providence Church Cemetery with Haralson County Veterans Association providing military honors.

His family will receive friends in the Providence Church Sanctuary, Sunday, August 15th between the hours of 5:00 and 8:00 PM.
