NORTHPORT | Margaret E. Brown-Bagwell, age 93, of Northport, died August 18, 2014, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, August 21, 2014, at Heritage Chapel Funeral Home with Doctor Donnie Payne of Forest Lake Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Heritage Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James H. "Pup" Brown; husband, Travis M. Bagwell; parents, Thomas Lee McGahey and Fannie Mae McGahey; and brother, Russell McGahey (Lydia).
Survivors include her son, Jimmy Dean Brown (Ann) of Tuscaloosa; and grandchildren, Kaitlyn Brown, Cameron Brown, Hannah Williams, and Caleb Williams.
Margaret was born November 25, 1920 in Reform, Ala. to Thomas Lee and Fannie Mae McGahey. She and James H. ''Pup'' Brown married in 1939 and had one son, Jimmy Dean Brown. During the early years they lived in Brownville, Ala. and then moved to Tuscaloosa. Margaret was in retail sales and worked with the Pizitz stores for over 40 years, managing the downtown and Alberta stores. She loved people and had many friends. ''Pup'' died in 1964. In 1973 Margaret met and married Travis Bagwell and they enjoyed over 20 years together. Their favorite pastime was camping on the river. She was an avid sports fan especially Alabama baseball and Atlanta Braves many times arriving early to games in order to get a good parking space. She also enjoyed watching the grandchildren's games. Her grandchildren and great- grandchildren were the joy of her life as well as her many friends. She loved the Lord and her church, Forest Lake Baptist Church. Special thanks to Butch and Susan Kincaid who provided transportation on Sunday mornings to Sunday school and church after her move to Presbyterian Apartments.
Pallbearers will be Mike Wright, Jerry Belk, Phillip Williams, David Avery, Barton Avery, Brian Thompson, Butch Kincaid, and Rusty McGahey.
Honorary pallbearers are members of Forest Lake Baptist Church.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents Earl A. and Sadie A. (Collins) Miles; her husband Charles H. Bagwell; and her brother James T. Miles.

Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Hillcrest Memorial Park with Rev. Wallace Edgar officiating.

     Charles Williams Bagwell died on 23 March 1942 in Cooke County, Texas. He was born on 23 March 1942 in Cooke County, Texas. He was the son of Charles Ray Bagwell Sr. and Betty Jane Phillips. Charles Williams Bagwell was buried at Ratliff-Witt Cemetery, Valley View, Cooke County, Texas.

     William James Rue was born on 2 September 1838. He married Elizabeth Anne Bagwell, daughter of Healy Parker Bagwell and Sarah Ann Edmunds, on 15 January 1873 at Northampton County, Virginia. William James Rue died on 19 May 1917 at age 78. He was buried at Belle Haven Cemetery, Belle Haven, Accomack County, Virginia.

     Healy Parker Bagwell Rue Sr. was born on 17 October 1873. He was the son of William James Rue and Elizabeth Anne Bagwell. Healy Parker Bagwell Rue Sr. died on 10 February 1966 in Belle Haven, Accomack County, Virginia, at age 92. He was buried at Belle Haven Cemetery, Belle Haven, Accomack County, Virginia.

     Richard Watkins Goode was born on 17 October 1842 in Chesterfield County, Virginia. He married Mary Alice Bagwell, daughter of William Henry Hawes Bagwell and Lavinia Goode, after 1863. Richard Watkins Goode died in 1912 in Windsor, Bertie County, North Carolina.

     Laura K. Prichard was born in January 1856 in Louisiana. As of 27 February 1876,her married name was Bagwell. She married John Goode Bagwell, son of William Henry Hawes Bagwell and Lavinia Goode, on 27 February 1876 at Louisiana. Laura K. Prichard died on 26 February 1914 in Monroe, Ouachita Parish, Louisiana, at age 58.

     Virginia Goode Bagwell was born on 11 December 1876 in Catahoula Parish, Louisiana. She was the daughter of John Goode Bagwell and Laura K. Prichard. As of 15 April 1897,her married name was Lyle. Virginia Goode Bagwell married John Signey Lyle on 15 April 1897 at Monroe, Louisiana. Virginia Goode Bagwell died on 26 June 1937 in Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee, at age 60.

     John Signey Lyle was born circa 1869. He married Virginia Goode Bagwell, daughter of John Goode Bagwell and Laura K. Prichard, on 15 April 1897 at Monroe, Louisiana. John Signey Lyle died on 29 October 1918 in Memphis, Tennessee.

     John W. Fisher was born in September 1839 in Chesterfield County, Virginia. He married Sarah Lavinia Bagwell, daughter of William Henry Hawes Bagwell and Lavinia Goode, on 27 June 1872 at Halifax, Halifax County, North Carolina. John W. Fisher died after 1920 in Richmond, Virginia.

     J. E. Clark married Lily Rose Bell Bagwell, daughter of Andrew Jackson Bagwell and Margaret Caroline Thompson, after 1895.

     Minnie Duncan was born on 18 August 1928 in Central, Pickens County, South Carolina. As of after 1945,her married name was Bagwell. She married Dennis Earl Bagwell, son of Noah Lewis Bagwell and Mary Elizabeth Hunter, after 1945. As of after 1962,her married name was Hitt. Minnie Duncan married Stanley Hitt after 1962. Minnie Duncan died on 25 June 2003 at age 74. She was buried on 28 June 2003 at West View Cemetery, Liberty, Pickens County, South Carolina.

     Kathy Bagwell is the daughter of Raymond Walton Bagwell and Fannie Mae Williams. Kathy Bagwell married Reverend Danny Hicks after 1970.

     Velvie Sparks was also known as June Sparks. She was born on 23 February 1962 in Monroe, Walton County, Georgia. As of circa 1983,her married name was Bagwell. She married Stanley Walton Bagwell, son of Raymond Walton Bagwell and Fannie Mae Williams, circa 1983. Velvie Sparks died on 19 September 2022 at age 60


Velvie “June” (Sparks) Bagwell, age 60 of Ellijay passed on Monday, September 19, 2022. June was born February 23, 1962, in Monroe, GA to her late parents Duffy Virgil and Barbara June (Jenkins) Sparks. June graduated from Forsyth Central High School in 1980. June was a member of the Flat Creek Baptist Church here in Ellijay. June is preceded in death by her infant son Brandon Cole Bagwell, her father and mother in law Raymond and Fannie Mae Bagwell, brothers Delton and David Sparks, brother in law Stacy Bagwell, her niece Crystal Sparks and nephew Virgil Sparks.

Survivors include her husband of 39 years Stanley Bagwell, Ellijay, GA, children Vivian and Jeremy Daniel, Canton, GA, Matthew Bagwell, Ellijay, GA, grandchildren Emilee Daniel, Nicholas Daniel, and several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family will receive family on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. The funeral service will be held Thursday, September 22, 2022, at 11:00 am at Flat Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Daniel Sparks and Rev. Steve Kilborn officiating. Daniel Cartin, Terry Williams, Bron Nichols, Johnathan Crump, Andrew Giles, CJ Ellington, Billy Roper, and Steven Sheets as pallbearers, and Nicholas Daniel, Colten Coley and Jaden Love will serve as Honorary Pallbearer.


She was buried on 22 September 2022 at Flat Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Gainesville, Georgia.

     Reverend Danny Hicks married Kathy Bagwell, daughter of Raymond Walton Bagwell and Fannie Mae Williams, after 1970.

     Tina Bagwell is the daughter of Raymond Willard Bagwell and Juanita Warner. Tina Bagwell married Robert Arnold after 1960.

     Stanley Warren Bagwell was born on 2 February 1954 in Ruston, Louisiana. He was the son of Vardie Daniel Bagwell and Cascyle "Nellie" Thurston. Stanley Warren Bagwell married Laura Lee Harrelson on 12 January 1973 at Tarrant, Texas. Stanley Warren Bagwell lived in 1986 in Weatherford, Texas. He married Kyle (?) after 1988. Stanley Warren Bagwell and Laura Lee Harrelson were divorced on 9 March 1988 at Tarrant, Texas. Stanley Warren Bagwell lived in 2020 in Poolville, Texas. He died on 18 July 2020 in Weatherford, Texas, at age 66


Stanley (Stan) Warren Bagwell, age 66, went to be with the Lord July 18, 2020 due to heart failure. He was born February 2, 1954 in Ruston, Louisiana to Dan and Cascyle Bagwell. Stan was the third of four sons.

Stan was predeceased by his wife Kyle Bagwell, his parents, Dan and Cascyle Bagwell, and his brother Tony Bagwell. He is survived by his son, Warren Bagwell of Weatherford; Warren's mother, Laura Bagwell of Atlantic, Iowa; brothers, Mike Bagwell (Debbie) of Weatherford, TX and Marty Bagwell (Kathy) of Mineral Wells, TX; sister n law, Sandie Bagwell and loving nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

To condense Stan’s amazing life into this format is impossible. To know him was to love him. Our hearts are broken, but we know he is in Heaven with his Lord and Savior. Those he cherished and loved who are left with a huge void can cling to the scripture Romans 8:28 and we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

“One night I dreamed a dream.
I was walking along the beach with my Lord. Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life. For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand, one belonging to me and one to my Lord.
When the last scene of my life shot before me I looked back at the footprints in the sand. There was only one set of footprints. I realized that this was at the lowest and saddest times of my life. This always bothered me and I questioned the Lord about my dilemma.
"Lord, You told me when I decided to follow You, You would walk and talk with me all the way. But I'm aware that during the most troublesome times of my life there is only one set of footprints. I just don't understand why, when I need You most, You leave me."
He whispered, "My precious child, I love you and will never leave you, never, ever, during your trials and testings. When you saw only one set of footprints, It was then that I carried you.”.
