ABBEVILLE. . .Lloyd Bagwell, a resident of Abbeville, died early Sunday morning, August 17, 2014, at his home. He was 93.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 19, 2014, in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Harrison Steege and Chaplain Paul Cowley officiating. Burial will follow in the Pilgrim’s Rest Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Monday at the mortuary.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Tumbleton Community Pentecostal Church “Building Fund”, P.O. Box 149, Headland, AL 36345.

Mr. Bagwell was born in Dale County, and was reared in the Union Community of Henry County, son of the late Middleton Marchman Bagwell and Lela Speigner Bagwell. He formerly lived in Clewiston and Moorehaven, Florida before moving to the Wills Crossroads Community of Henry County in 1987. He was a member of the Tumbleton Community Pentecostal Church and was retired as a mechanic. Mr. Bagwell was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-seven years, Rosa Lee Davis Bagwell, a son-in-law, Bill Young, two sisters, Evy Rae Woodham and Irene Maddox, and three brothers, Lewis Bagwell, Oscar Bagwell, and Ralph Bagwell.

Surviving relatives include two daughters, Rose Ellen Brooks (Edward), and Annie Ruth (Sonnie) Young, all of Abbeville; a very special grandson, Robert L. Young (Saundra), Abbeville; two great-grandchildren, Bridget Williams (Ty), and Tiffany Lucier (Chris); six great-great-grandchildren; special friends, Elizabeth Pitts, Dewey and Donna Sue Grimes, and Louise Johnson.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Wayne Money, Ed Davis, Dewey Grimes, William Shelley, Greg Wilson, and Lee Fortson.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Donovan Wewers and to Gentiva Hospice for their loving care and kindness shown to Mr. Bagwell and his family during his illness.¹

She formerly lived in Clewiston and Moore-haven, FL. before moving to Headland where she lived several years before returning to the Wills Crossroads community in 1987. She was a member of the Pilgrim's Rest Free Will Baptist Church and attended the Tumbleton Community Church. Mrs. Bagwell was preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Gross and Clara Parkinson and a brother, Bob Davis. Young, all of Abbeville; three sisters, Martha Nell Bentley, Atlanta, Johnnie Louise Wynn, Georgetown, GA, and Karolyn Faye Wiggins, Nashville, TN; a brother, James Clayton Davis and wife, Shirley Davis, Abbeville; numerous nieces and nephews. Serving as active pall-bearers will be Ed Davis, Keith Davis, Peter Parkinson, Murphy Phipps, Joey Riley and Wayne Money.      Evie Rae Bagwell was born on 25 July 1912 in Alabama.¹ She was the daughter of Middleton Marchman Bagwell and Lela Speigner. As of after 1930,her married name was Woodham. Evie Rae Bagwell married Guy Tell Woodham after 1930. Evie Rae Bagwell died on 10 April 1992 in Dale County, Alabama, at age 79 OZARK...Mrs. Evie R. Woodie, 79, of the Ewell Community died Friday morning, April 10, 1992 at her son's home following an extended illness.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday (April 13) from the Chalkhead Baptist Church with the Rev. Thaxton Whiddon officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery with Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.

Mrs. Woodham was a native of Dale County where she lived most of her life. During her lifetime she helped raise approximately 29 foster children in her home through the State Department of Health and Human Services. Mrs. Woodham was a member of the Chalkhead Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, John W. Fowler, Ozark; one sister, Mrs. Irene Maddox, Kinsey, AL; one brother, Lloyd Bagwell, Abbeville; three grandchildren also survive.¹ She was buried at Chalkhead Baptist Church Cemetery, Ewell, Dale County, Alabama.¹

     Guy Tell Woodham was born on 15 August 1894 in Dale County, Alabama. Private in the US Army during World War I. He married Evie Rae Bagwell, daughter of Middleton Marchman Bagwell and Lela Speigner, after 1930. Guy Tell Woodham died on 13 March 1976 in Ozark, Dale County, Alabama, at age 81. He was buried at Chalkhead Baptist Church Cemetery, Ewell, Dale County, Alabama.

     William Oscar Bagwell was born on 5 May 1915 in Dale County, Alabama.¹ He was the son of Middleton Marchman Bagwell and Lela Speigner. William Oscar Bagwell married Sallie Van Roberson after 1932. William Oscar Bagwell died on 28 May 1973 in Fort Gaines, Clay County, Georgia, at age 58.¹ He was buried at New Park Cemetery, Fort Gaines, Clay County, Georgia.¹

     Sallie Van Roberson was born on 16 May 1917 in Alabama.¹ As of after 1932,her married name was Bagwell. She married William Oscar Bagwell, son of Middleton Marchman Bagwell and Lela Speigner, after 1932. As of after 1976,her married name was Chevez. Sallie Van Roberson married Emelio Jarmillo 'Joe' Chevez after 1976. Sallie Van Roberson died on 24 March 2016 in Fort Gaines, Clay County, Georgia, at age 98.¹ She was buried at New Park Cemetery, Fort Gaines, Clay County, Georgia.¹

     William Lewis Bagwell was born on 18 January 1934 in Alabama. He was the son of William Oscar Bagwell and Sallie Van Roberson. William Lewis Bagwell married Marlene Ann Sprouse on 17 August 1957 at Newport News, Virginia. William Lewis Bagwell died on 2 August 2013 in Bristol, Tennessee, at age 79. He was buried on 10 August 2013 at Glenwood Cemetery and Chapel Mausoleum, Bristol, Sullivan County, Tennessee.

     Middleton M. Bagwell was born on 21 March 1937 in Abbeville, Alabama. He was the son of William Oscar Bagwell and Sallie Van Roberson. He served in the US Navy. Middleton M. Bagwell married Rebecca Ann Cannon before September 1964. Middleton M. Bagwell died on 17 August 1975 in Donalsonville, Georgia, at age 38. He was buried on 19 August 1975 at New Park Cemetery, Fort Gaines, Clay County, Georgia.

     Rebecca Ann Cannon married Middleton M. Bagwell, son of William Oscar Bagwell and Sallie Van Roberson, before September 1964.

     Mertie Emily Bagwell was born on 21 May 1905 in Alabama. She was the daughter of Daniel Franklin Bagwell and Laura Francis Keahey. As of before 1929,her married name was Blankenship. Mertie Emily Bagwell married J. T. Blankenship before 1929. Mertie Emily Bagwell died on 10 September 1977 in Early County, Georgia, at age 72. She was buried at Blakely Cemetery, Blakely, Early County, Georgia.

     J. T. Blankenship was born on 15 February 1908. He married Mertie Emily Bagwell, daughter of Daniel Franklin Bagwell and Laura Francis Keahey, before 1929. J. T. Blankenship died on 4 November 1973 at age 65.

     William Goddin Coleman was born in 1871.² He married Nora Frances Bagwell, daughter of Daniel Miller Bagwell and Sarah Ann Barnes, before 1894. William Goddin Coleman died in 1936.² He was buried at Zion Hill Cemetery, Friday, Trinitiy County, Texas.²

     William Nelson Hays was born on 27 April 1876 in Texas, Washington County, Kentucky.¹ He married Emma Lee Bagwell, daughter of Henderson O'Neal Bagwell and Sarah Chrisantha "Cassie" James, in 1901.¹ William Nelson Hays died on 26 June 1935 in Pottsville, Washington County, Kentucky, at age 59.¹ He was buried at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery, Springfield, Washington County, Kentucky.¹

     Ollie Irene Bagwell was born on 27 April 1917 in Marion County, Kentucky.¹ She was the daughter of John J. Bagwell and Eva Alice Rollins.¹ As of after 1935,her married name was Roseberry. Ollie Irene Bagwell married Harry Roseberry after 1935. Ollie Irene Bagwell died on 30 March 1993 in Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky, at age 75. She was buried on 1 April 1993 at Louisville Memorial Gardens, Shively, Jefferson County, Kentucky.

     Margaret Bagwell was also known as Margie Bagwell. She was born on 3 June 1908 in Springfield, Washington County, Kentucky.¹ She was the daughter of John J. Bagwell and Eva Alice Rollins.¹ As of before 1930,her married name was Young. Margaret Bagwell married Henry William Young before 1930. Margaret Bagwell died on 23 November 1954 in Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky, at age 46. She was buried on 25 November 1954 at Peter Cemetery, Mackville, Washington County, Kentucky.

     Glenn Bagwell was also known as Glen Bagwell. He was born on 7 December 1902 in Lebanon, Kentucky.¹ He was the son of John J. Bagwell and Eva Alice Rollins.¹ Glenn Bagwell married Lura Bell Galloway on 11 October 1924 at Indiana. Glenn Bagwell died on 26 November 1966 in Jefferson County, Kentucky, at age 63. He was buried on 27 November 1966 at Louisville Memorial Gardens, Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky.

     Flossie Bagwell was born on 23 October 1906 in Gravel Switch, Kentucky.¹ She was the daughter of John J. Bagwell and Eva Alice Rollins.¹ As of before 1930,her married name was Bandy. Flossie Bagwell married Roy Ansel Bandy before 1930. Flossie Bagwell died on 21 March 1990 in Jefferson County, Kentucky, at age 83. She was buried at Resthaven Memorial Cemetery, Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky.

     Lorna Isham was born in 1886.^1,2 As of after 1900,her married name was Bagwell. She married William Bagwell, son of Henderson O'Neal Bagwell and Sarah Chrisantha "Cassie" James, after 1900.¹ As of before 1915,her married name was Bagwell.¹ Lorna Isham died in 1927.^1,2 She was buried at Haysville Cemetery, Gravel Smith, Marion County, Kentucky.^1,2

     William Stanley Bagwell was also known as Stanley Bagwell. He was born on 26 August 1915 in Gravel Smith, Marion County, Kentucky.¹ He was the son of William Bagwell and Lorna Isham.¹ William Stanley Bagwell married Ruth Vivian Davidson after 1932.¹ William Stanley Bagwell died on 15 February 1992 in Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky, at age 76.¹ He was buried at Louisville Memorial Gardens, Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky.¹

     Ruth Vivian Davidson was born on 22 November 1921 in Lost Creek, Breathitt County, Kentucky.² As of after 1932,her married name was Bagwell.¹ She married William Stanley Bagwell, son of William Bagwell and Lorna Isham, after 1932.¹ Ruth Vivian Davidson died on 16 May 2007 in Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky, at age 85 BAGWELL, RUTH D., 85, of Louisville, passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2007.

Born in Lost Creek, KY, Ruth was a former teacher at Schaffner Elementary. She loved to read, work in her flower gardens, and travel. She will be remembered for her kind smile, sweet disposition, and the love she showered on her family and friends. Ruth was a member of Shively Heights Baptist Church, and member of Jefferson County Teachers Association.

She was preceded in death by her husband, W. S. Bagwell.

She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Fleener (Jim); grandsons, David and Michael Fleener; great-grandchildren, Katlyn and Scott Fleener; sisters, Anna Belle Coy (Richard); Mable Wilkins (Vernon), of Newark, OH; and sister-in-law, Sandra Davidson. Special thanks to her caregivers, Kristie, Linda G., Linda B., Mary, Joy, Marilyn, Nicole and Susie.

Her funeral service will be noon Saturday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Hwy., with burial to follow in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Friday. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice of Louisville.

     Willie Walter Bagwell was also known as William Walter Bagwell.¹ He was born on 13 August 1900 in Marion County, Kentucky.¹ He was the son of Charles Ervin Bagwell and Hattie Jane Dorsey. Willie Walter Bagwell married Sallie May Cecilia Daugherty before 1922.² Willie Walter Bagwell died on 16 December 1970 in Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky, at age 70.¹ He was buried at Calvary Cemetery, Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky.¹

     Edgar Bagwell was born on 22 February 1889 in Kentucky.¹ He was the son of Charles Ervin Bagwell and Hattie Jane Dorsey. Edgar Bagwell married Henrietta Noel before 1910.² Edgar Bagwell died on 25 June 1954 at age 65.¹ He was buried at Haysville Cemetery, Gravel Smith, Marion County, Kentucky.¹

     James Otis Bagwell was born on 1 July 1922 in Marion County, Kentucky. He was the son of Willie Walter Bagwell and Sallie May Cecilia Daugherty. James Otis Bagwell married Catherine V. James O. Bagwell 1922-2010 Longmeadow- James “Jim” O. Bagwell, 87, business executive and civic leader died Sunday, March 14, 2010. He was a native of Louisville, Kentucky and a graduate of Louisville Male High School. During World War II he was a naval aviator serving as a pilot of B-24s. He flew 53 missions in England, Africa, Gibraltar and the Azores. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross and six air medals for a tour in the European Theatre. He was discharged in February 1946 with the rank of LT (JG). After the war he continued his education at Providence College and Boston University and graduated cum laude in 1949 with a BS in Accounting. He was elected to the Beta Gamma Sigma Fraternity. Jim joined Monarch Life Insurance Company in 1949 as a Branch Officer Auditor and served until his retirement in August 1984. He retired from Monarch as a Senior Vice President and the Chief Financial Officer. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Third National Bank and the TNB Corporation for 14 years. He was a Trustee of Springfield Institution for Savings. In 1968 he was elected a Trustee and Treasurer of Baystate Medical Center. He served as chairman of its finance committee. He was also a Trustee of Baystate Medical Center until 1997. He was a member of the Longmeadow Country Club. Additionally, Jim was a communicant of St. Marys church, in Longmeadow, where he was a Eucharistic Minister. Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Catherine, and daughter, Susan Connolly of Belmont, MA. He has four grandchildren, Michelle Specht, MD, Maura Penzone, Deirdre Bertrand and James Connolly. He also has ten great grandchildren His funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:45 AM from the Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St. East Longmeadow, MA 01028 followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 AM in St. Marys Church, Longmeadow. Rites of Committal will follow in Longmeadow Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 4-7 PM at the funeral home.
