     Edith Marie McMinn was born on 8 July 1921 in Henderson County, North Carolina. As of 14 March 1946,her married name was Bagwell. She married Woodfin Paul Bagwell, son of John Littleton Bagwell and Ellen L. Garren, on 14 March 1946 at Henderson County, North Carolina. Edith Marie McMinn was buried at Locust Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Henderson County, North Carolina. She died on 21 August 2017 in North Carolina at age 96


On Monday, August 21, 2017, Edith Marie Bagwell softly left this Earth to enter Heaven’s Gate. She was 96 years old.

Born in Henderson County, Mrs. Bagwell was a daughter of the late James Everett and Ida Lane Harper McMinn. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Lloyd McMinn, Foy McMinn and Bobby McMinn, and by her sisters, Gladys Watkins and Blanche McGaha.

Mrs. Bagwell lived in the state of Washington for over 30 years with her husband before returning to Hendersonville. She was a military wife and mother and taught Sunday School for many years. Mrs. Bagwell enjoyed singing, playing the guitar and caring for her garden and her flowers.

She is survived by her daughter, Gail Justus (Harold) of Hendersonville; grandchildren, Joshua Justus, Joni Payne, Bobby Payne, and Andy Campeau (Theresa); great-grandchildren, Dakota, Tyler (Alexandria), Cayden, Jacob and Andrew; great-great-granddaughter, Juliette; and her sisters, Audry Magness and Hazel Duncan.

A funeral will be held at 2 PM Friday, August 25, 2017 at Locust Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Richard Ritter officiating. She will be buried following the service in the church cemetery which is on the land her father donated to the church.

     Mary Lou Coggins was born on 26 June 1916 in Henderson County, North Carolina. As of 2 May 1938,her married name was Brank. She married Howard Vance Brank on 2 May 1938 at Buncombe County, North Carolina. As of before 2005,her married name was Bagwell. Mary Lou Coggins married Woodfin Paul Bagwell, son of John Littleton Bagwell and Ellen L. Garren, before 2005. Mary Lou Coggins died on 18 August 2012 in North Carolina at age 96. She was buried at Bethesda United Methodist Church Cemetery, Asheville, Buncombe County, North Carolina.

     Howard Vance Brank was born on 13 September 1918. He married Mary Lou Coggins on 2 May 1938 at Buncombe County, North Carolina. Howard Vance Brank died on 23 April 1960 in Miami-Dade County, Florida, at age 41.

     John Allen Bagwell was born on 11 April 1951. He was the son of James Willis Bagwell and Beatrice Effie Pittman. John Allen Bagwell died on 27 March 2025 in Greenville Hospital, Greenville, South Carolina, at age 73


Mr. John Allen Bagwell, Sr., 73, of 105 Roxanne Street Williamston SC, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, March 27, 2025 at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Mr. Bagwell was born April 11, 1951 in Greenville SC, a son of the late Jake and Beatrice Pittman Bagwell. Survivors include one son John Allen Bagwell Jr. of the home, two daughters, Sheila Bagwell Bates (Jeff) of Union, SC; April Bagwell Austin (Thomas) of Duncan, SC; two brothers Jimmy Bagwell (Sandy) of Orlando, FL; Gary Bagwell of Piedmont, SC; one sister Linda Bagwell of Piedmont, SC; and six grandchildren: Cali Bagwell, Presley Bagwell, Brandon Bates, Tyler Bates (Angie), Claire Austin and Levi Austin.
Johnny, as he was known to family and old friends, was a painter by trade and took great pride in his work. His children have fond memories with him of browsing the flea markets looking for collectibles, listening to Steve Miller Band, and looking for shark teeth on the beach. Despite an accident years ago that took his senses of taste and smell, he was known for his delicious cooking and making the best tasting boiled peanuts and beef jerky around! Most importantly, Johnny was of the Baptist faith and came to accept Jesus as his Lord and Savior while attending the church where his longtime friend Rudy Halstead is the Pastor. For this, his family is most grateful.
A memorial service is planned for April 13, 2025 at 3:00 pm, two days after his 74th birthday, at Agape Baptist Church 198 New Cut Rd. Piedmont, SC.

     Beatrice Effie Pittman was born circa 1926 in Georgia. She married James Willis Bagwell, son of Clifton Murphy Anderson Bagwell and Jessie Mae Hicks, before 1950. As of before 1950,her married name was Bagwell. Beatrice Effie Pittman died on 5 November 2016 in South Carolina.
