Johnnie Lou Ragsdale, 88, a longtime resident of Alamogordo, NM, died peacefully of natural causes in her home on July 7, 2022.
Johnnie Lou was survived by her (5) siblings: ..., (6) children: ..; 16 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and beloved in-laws. She was predeceased by her husband Charles M. Ragsdale, son John Carlton Ragsdale, who died in infancy, and her brothers Elmo and Nolan Bagwell.
Johnnie Lou was born at Melrose, NM on August 15, 1933 to John Henry Bagwell and Mary Lou Smith. Shortly after her birth, her father moved his then small family to Muleshoe, Texas for several years, then returned to New Mexico to run his own farm and ranch north of Melrose, NM. Johnnie Lou graduated from Melrose High School in 1951, then attended New Mexico State University for two years before meeting and marrying Charles Melton Ragsdale, a handsome young Air Force sergeant returning from the Korean War.
She was active in the Methodist Church, sharing her fine soprano voice as a member of the church choir, as a soloist and as choir director. She attended Perkins School of Theology at SMU and worked as Christian Education Director at First United Methodist Church in Alamogordo, and also in two Methodist Churches in Oklahoma.
Johnnie Lou loved God, her family, singing, and her garden. She spoke proudly of how she earned the part of Laurie in Oklahoma while in high school, and her beautiful voice graced many Sunday services.
In 2013, Johnnie's daughter and granddaughter helped her write an autobiography. She ended her narrative with the words of Corinthians 13: "And now abideth faith, hope, and love, but the greatest of these is love of which there is no end." She followed that with, "My undying love to all of you, who have made my life so rich and happy!"
A funeral service is scheduled for July 20, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the Grace United Methodist Church of Alamogordo, 1206 Greenwood ln, Alamogordo, NM 88310. Randy Wallace will officiate at the service. A lunch reception will follow the service.
The Ragsdale family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the arrangements.
She was buried on 20 July 2022 at Las Palomas Cemetery, Las Palomas, Sierra County, New Mexico.

Elmo Eugene "Gene" Bagwell

Elmo Eugene (Gene) Bagwell, 84, of Lockhart went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 14, 2020. He was born in Brownfield, Texas on July 13, 1935 to John H. and Mary Lou Bagwell. He married Wanda Fay Williams on August 23, 1957.
Gene grew up on a farm in Melrose, NM, the oldest son of seven children. After high school, he served in the U.S. Navy for four years. Following the Navy, he worked for LTV in Arlington, TX. In 1970, he moved his family to Lockhart and started a business in Austin. In his later years, he spent most of his time raising cattle. He was a member of Clear Fork Baptist Church, where he served as deacon for many years. He also obtained his private pilot’s license and served as president of the Lockhart Breakfast Lion’s Club.
Gene was proceeded in death by his wife of 53 years, Wanda Fay Bagwell, his parents, brother Nolan Bagwell, and grandson Benjamin Rich.
He is survived by his sons, Larry Bagwell and wife, Kim, Terry Bagwell and wife, Janet; and daughter, Brenda Hagan and husband, Billy. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Tabitha Rich, Emily Bagwell, Brodie Hagan, Addison Hagan and Trent Hagan; great-grandsons, Trevor Rich and Hayden Rich; and siblings, Johnnie Lou Ragsdale, Patricia Romero, Flora Bradley, Karen Meyers and Gary Bagwell.
A visitation will be held on Monday, May 18, 2020 from 6-8 pm. Funeral services will begin on Tuesday at 10 am also at McCurdy Funeral Home with burial at the Lockhart City Cemetery.
He was buried at Lockhart Municipal Burial Park, Lockhart, Caldwell County, Texas.

Larry Bagwell, a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, faithful friend, and longtime member of Community Baptist Church, entered Heaven's gates on May 21, 2025.
He was born on November 28, 1947 in Brookhaven, Mississippi, Larry lived a life rooted in faith, family, and service. He proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Army. After his military service, he spent most of his career working in the oil field industry before retiring. Never one to slow down, Larry later worked as a courier for St. Francis Hospital until his second retirement.
Larry found joy in life's simple blessings. He loved to fish, mow, and piddle in his shed-always working on something. He was the kind of man who never sat still for long. He was always ready to lend a hand, share a story, or check in on someone he cared about. He loved his family with all his heart, treasured his friends, and was deeply committed to his church. One of his greatest joys was sharing the love of the Lord with others. With a heart of gold, Larry was always willing to help anyone in need.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Esco and Fredna Bagwell.
Left to celebrate his life are his loving wife of fifty-two years, Pam Williams Bagwell; daughter, Sunnie Bagwell of Monroe; son, Ron Bagwell of West Monroe; Grandchildren, Abbigale Jones, Aaron Jones, Annabell Bagwell, and Wyatt Bagwell; sisters, Rita Blaylock of Sanford, FL, and Millie Moreland and her husband, David of West Monroe; and his brother, Richard Bagwell of Pecan Island, LA and wife, Bea Bagwell. Larry is also lovingly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the wonderful and caring nurses of Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care as well as the doctors and nurses on the 5th floor at St. Francis.
Larry's life reflected the words of Proverbs 20:7: "The righteous man walks in his integrity; his children are blessed after him. "
Pallbearers will be Wyatt Bagwell, Aaron Jones, Noah Hatten, Richard "Tsos" Bagwell, Thad Bagwell, and Brad Moreland.
