Born in Pacolet, she was the widow of the late Walter Bagwell, Jr. and daughter of the late Joel Womick and Maybelle Petty Womick. Mrs. Bagwell retired from the textiles industry and was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are two sons, Jerry Bagwell and wife, Ann of Spartanburg and Ronnie Bagwell and wife, Kay of Gaffney; a sister, Vinnie Hembree of Spartanburg; two grandchildren, Brian Bagwell and wife, April and Tony Farr and wife, Crystal; six great-grandchildren, Ashley Bagwell, Brianna Bagwell, Hunter Bagwell, Jacob Farr, Marie Farr and Savannah Bagwell; two great-great grandchildren, Emily Bagwell and Hannah Bagwell. She was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 PM on Sunday, March 13, 2011 at Blakely Funeral Home. Graveside services will immediately follow at 3:00 PM at Frederick Memorial Gardens.1 She was buried at Frederick Memorial Gardens, Gaffney, Cherokee County, South Carolina.1

James Perry Bagwell

James Perry Bagwell married Vera Nancy Patterson before 1924. James Perry Bagwell died on 3 August 1970 in South Carolina at age 62 According to the South Carolina Fraternal Order of Police website, James Perry Bagwell was killed in the line of duty while serving as a jailer in the Greenville County, SC jail on August 3, 1970.

Greenville County Jailer, James P. Bagwell, 62, was stabbed to death by an inmate on Aug. 2, 1970. Officer Bagwell was a Retired Pickens County Deputy. The killer was convicted and sentenced to life in prison. He later escaped and remained free for ten years until he was killed in a "drug shootout" in Boston on Feb. 9, 1986.1
He was buried at West View Cemetery, Liberty, Pickens County, South Carolina.1

Obituary, The State (Columbia, SC ) June 26, 2002: Cecil Bagwell, Columbia - Services for Cecil R. Bagwell, 88, will be held noon Thursday, June 27, 2002 at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, conducted by the Reverend Jimmy Davis. Burial will be in Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 6-8 this evening at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Harrison Road Baptist Church, 2417 Marling Dr., Columbia, S.C.
Mr. Bagwell died Tuesday, June 25, 2002. Born in Liberty, he was a son of the late George Adolphus and Emma Jane Pace Bagwell. He was a member of Harrison Road Baptist Church where he taught the Fisher Sunday School Class. He had served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict retiring after 30 years of service. During his time in the Army he received the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal with five Bronze Loops and the Marksman Badge with Rifle Bar. He also played baseball for many years on the U.S. Army Teams. After retiring, he served as Supervisor of Patient Transportation with Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital for ten years. Survivors are his wife of over 66 years, Dorothy B. Bagwell of Columbia; daughters, Barbara Bagwell Rose and her husband, Ken Rose, of Charlotte, N.C., Leilani Bagwell Horton and her husband, James R. Horton, of Winnsboro; brother, Luther Bagwell of Liberty; sisters, Mary Tant of Florence and Annie Malaga of Columbia; grandchildren, Shannon Rose Crider, Amanda Yelton and her husband, Grady R. Yelton, Brenna Fleming; great-grandchildren, Cole Conner Yelton, Lindsay Crider, Lauren Crider and Cameron Yelton.
